The Tar Heels Book: A History of UNC Basketball Volume 2

by Ron Smith

The Tar Heels Volume Two is the second issue of Ron Smith's series on the comprehensive history of UNC Basketball. After great success with Volume One, Ron continues the story with unique insight on Dean Smith's arrival as head coach. And, how he was able to recruit Bob Lewis, Larry Miller, and Charlie Scott, who, along with Larry Brown and Billy Cunningham played key roles in the program's success.

This volume covers the 1961 through 1969 seasons. Like Volume One, each season will include team rosters, season results, season stats and player bios. Ron covers unique insight and details about Dean Smith and the early years of the program under his leadership. Volume two will also include photos that have never been published and other cool images from the 60's.

We are also exited to share that the foreword is written by renowned Hall of Fame sports writer and UNC Alum, Curry Kirkpatrick. And- UNC Alum and Hall of Fame Cincinnati Reds announcer, Marty Brennaman was so thrilled with Volume One, he was eager to help with Volume Two and has written a 60's summary in the book.

This volume covers 1961 - 1969 seasons and has 320 pages with over 500 images. This is a coffee table quality, 9.75 x 12 hard cover book.
